This Tumult, Dross and Folly 

I remember the first time I went to see a Shakespearean play. I was ten - all excited, sitting in the velvet seat at the theater, dressed up with new patent leather shoes, The curtain went up. The play began. What?

I turned to my mom and whispered, "I thought it was going to be in English." 

"Afore, avant, thy, thee, thou, thine. Huh? Methinks, he made these words up. What was this gallimaufry? This tumult, dross and folly? It must cease forthwith.   

The only way to get through the evening was to not try to understand, to simply watch the action.

Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy nearly dies of agony, until finally, boy gets girl again. Every comedy was the same thank goodness - fairly straight forward.

Shakespeare reminds me of some of my dreams- plays that can be a bit difficult to understand. Not because of the language, but because I'm not really sure why a pink huffelump just showed up at my birthday party.
