Feel it to heal it

We don't change when we talk and read things, we change when we feel things.

Often we avoid emotions as a survival strategy, But over time emotions build up inside of us. Unfelt feelings don't go away, they resurface as physical symptoms like muscle tension, headaches, high blood pressure, chronic stress or numbness.

Feeling your feelings doesn't mean wallowing in pain or getting stuck in self judgment. It does mean noticing when you're trying to fix or explain a feeling away. It means naming your emotions with honesty and kindness. Then making space for the discomfort because emotions are waves and they will pass when they are allowed to rise.
